MOM. PLEASE POST COMMENT IN REPLY TO THIS BLOG ENTRY. THANK YOU (:
Anyway, hello mom! This is where it is YOUR turn to speak your mind about the work that has been shown to you during our conference. I am glad to know that you now understand the reason why I've been "on the computer" majority of my time. It is because of the assignments given to us. But, at least you know that I'm using the computer for educational purposes (: Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my small portfolio conference. Now, please feel free to express your thoughts and ideas about my learning this semester. Answers for these next four questions are also needed.
1. What piece of writing did you like best in my portfolio and why?
2. What did you like about my portfolio and sharing and what would you like to see me improve on?
3. Which of the writing traits (ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency) do you feel was most successful for me?
4. Which of the traits of writing would you like me to improve on in the coming semester?
Your post serves two purposes:
It is an opportunity for you to comment on my learning.
It is part of Mrs. Sueoka's assessment of my attainment of General Learning Outcome #5, "Effective Communicator." My sharing of the portfolio should enable you (parents/guardians) to reflect and respond to the four questions above.

Hello Precious,
ReplyDeleteI am very delighted to see the work that you have done in just half a year. I see that you are bringing it up to the next level!
I really liked your college essay. It shows that you have a great ambition for your future. Your use of great language and grammar really shows what you have learned.
I like your short paragraph about the school band, too. I can really understand and visualize what you are trying to say about the band. I felt like I was almost there.
You did a good job of explaining what each trait is. I didn't know what some of them were in the beginning, but after your explanations and examples, I had a clear idea of what each trait represents. As for improvement, you could've added a bit more visual graphics to your portfolio. But it is still nice the way it is right now.
I think your strongest writing trait would have to be voice and sentence fluency. It is interesting because I remember you telling me during the conference that you did not know anything about sentence fluency at first. But now you understand it very much and I'm happy to hear that. I think you are strong in voice because you like to express your thoughts a lot. Hehe.
Something I would like you to improve on more is word choice. Although your sentences make sense, sometimes, I feel like your choice of words do not perfect a sentence. Keep on working on that and you'll be a pro at writing!
Love,
Mom
Hi Mrs. Caberto :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I see you're still addressing Czarina as "Precious"...that's neat!
I'm glad you enjoyed the portfolio conference and that her explanations were helpful in defining the various writing traits. She's a good writer and continues to grow in skill as the time (and assignments) go by. She's also a great broadcast journalist and we're very fortunate to have her in our program :)
Have a great holiday season!
